At the Beta Collective, we are driven by the belief that innovation and entrepreneurship have the power to transform the African continent and the world. We envision a future where African startups lead the charge in driving social and economic progress, and we work tirelessly towards making this a reality.

We understand that access to resources is critical to the success of any entrepreneur, and we reject the notion that talent and potential are restricted by location or background. We strive to level the playing field for all African entrepreneurs, providing them with the support they need to succeed.

We recognize that building successful startups is no easy feat, and we are committed to providing the necessary advisory, capital, products, and community support that African startups require to thrive. By doing so, we aim to drive sustainable economic growth, create jobs, and solve some of the biggest challenges facing our continent.

We refuse to accept the status quo and are dedicated to creating a world where African startups are not viewed as “charity cases,” but as key players in the global innovation landscape. At the Beta Collective, we are focused on scaling the global African startup ecosystem by increasing the number of successful startups.

MEET OUR TEAM

Founder & CEO

Hello, I'm Ukeme, founder of The Beta Collective. I started this venture because of my passion for entrepreneurship in Africa and the potential for impact. My mission is to support early-stage companies that are working to solve grand challenges in African communities globally.

I love hosting panels and events that bring together like-minded individuals to spur discussion and collaboration. Using the lean framework, I help these entrepreneurs think through their strategy and create a roadmap for success.

Aside from being an entrepreneur, I'm also a medical doctor with a background in web development. This unique combination allows me to bring a fresh perspective to problem-solving and innovation.

My ultimate goal is to create a better future for African communities through entrepreneurship and collaboration. I believe that by working together, we can make a meaningful difference and tackle some of the most pressing challenges facing our world today.

Hello there! My name is Seun Romiluyi, and I am a Startup Content and Analyst at The Beta Collective. I have a PhD in machine learning, and my main focus is on developing solutions to complex problems using cutting-edge technology.

One of the things that really excites me about my work is the potential to unleash the untapped potential of the African startup ecosystem. I believe that there are so many incredible ideas and talented individuals in Africa, and it's my mission to help them succeed. Whether it's through providing insightful content or analyzing data to identify trends and opportunities, I am committed to supporting the growth of the African startup ecosystem.

In my free time, I enjoy staying up-to-date with the latest developments in the tech industry, as well as playing basketball and chess. I also love to travel and experience different cultures, which has given me a unique perspective on the challenges and opportunities facing startups in Africa. I'm thrilled to be a part of The Beta Collective team, and I'm looking forward to helping shape the future of entrepreneurship in Africa.

Marketing Lead & Community Council

Howdy! I'm Sanyu, My name is Sanyu Ntanda, and I am a Houston-based, Ugandan-American marketing professional and advocate for the African community. I have always had a passion for marketing, which led me to pursue a career in the field. Currently, I am the marketing lead for The Beta Collective, a startup that is focused on promoting diversity and inclusion in the workplace. In my role, I develop and implement marketing strategies that help the company reach its target audience and grow its brand.

Aside from my work, I am deeply committed to giving back to my community. I believe in the power of community involvement and volunteerism to make a positive impact in people's lives. This is why I volunteer my time across multiple African-focused initiatives, striving to make a difference in the lives of people of African descent.

One of the initiatives I am involved with is the Society for Africans in the Diaspora (SAiD) institute. I sit on the steering committee for this organization, which is dedicated to fostering dialogue, education, and research about the experiences of Africans living in the diaspora. Through my involvement, I have been able to connect with like-minded individuals and help build a community that supports and empowers Africans around the world.

Content Strategy Lead & Editor

HHi, I'm Oyin, and I'm excited to introduce myself to you! My background is in R&D in the energy and chemicals industry, and I'm passionate about using my expertise to support the growth of African startups. I hold three degrees in chemical engineering, including a doctorate, and I've spent my career exploring how we can accelerate innovation and decarbonization in the energy sector.
I believe that startups have the potential to drive significant positive change, and I'm committed to doing whatever I can to support them on their journeys.
In my free time, I love to play tennis and badminton, and to spend time with friends and family over good meals. I believe that collaboration and community are essential to achieving meaningful progress, both in business and in life, and I'm always looking for opportunities to connect with others who share my passion for sustainability and innovation.
